Weekend recap (only a few days late)

So apparently it took me a little bit to get caught up from my long weekend! Thanks to Labor Day and my standard every other Friday off I was able to get in a full 4 days of fun, friends, and sadly homework.

Thursday night J and I headed out to Chicago where she had invited me to be her plus one to a sorority sisters wedding. We didn’t' get in until super late but it was perfect because then we had all day Friday to get brunch, lay out at the beach, and get ready for the wedding. I had never been to the beach in Chicago and I thought that it was sooooo cool that you were literally right in the middle of the city being able to enjoy the lake!

 

It was so much fun being a plus one, I have never been to a wedding where I wasn't either a part of the wedding or with someone that was. Being able to just attend, enjoy the drinks, and not follow a schedule was pretty amazing! It was also fun to meet a bunch of J's sorority sisters and friends from college. We were both AXO's at different schools and I feel like I have known her forever even though it has been such a short about of time.

Saturday morning we headed out for Grand Rapids to spend some time with my HS girls. What should have only been a 3 hour trip turned into a 5 hour mess. We literally did not move more than 30 MPH through the entire state of Indiana! Have to say though I had the best company in the world and when we weren't singing along to stupid songs, or flipping through every Sirius station searching for Britney Spears, we were either talking about everything under the sun or cursing out every stupid driver on the highway. There is a reason she is my bestie!

When we FINALLY made it we spent some time at the pool and then headed downtown GRap to some of my favorite bars. We had way more fun than anticipated and ended up spending most of the night downing girlie drinks and dancing our hearts out!

Sunday was a final drive to home and some recovery. I spent most of the day relaxing with my feet up trying to figure out what I needed to accomplish for my last two weeks of school! Sadly that meant that Monday was completely full of homework but I am happy to say I got my final 2 papers done and only have 2 final exams standing between me and my Master Degree!!!!!!

Another wedding down!

Sunday my best friend got married!  Kristie and I met in high school and hung out in the same circle but oddly enough didn't really become friends until we went to seperate colleges.  She is a person who just seems to understand me and I to her which has made us just tighter and tighter as time has progressed.  Kristie came out when we were in college and I was so excited when she met Danielle, she seemed happy and thats all that anyone can ask for their friends significant other.  It was so nice to see all of my friends from home and to spend the day with Kristie's family which has bascially become mine over the years.  Congrats to these two and I am excited for what is to come!

And of our core group of 4 girls I am the last one to go... here are the other 3.  It is crazy to see how we have all changed over the years!



Being a 20 Something Girl

I am pretty sure I am not alone when looking at FB, Instagram, Pinterest, and anything else in realizing that as a 20 something girl it is wedding and baby time!  It all started about age 21 and now at 25 it is in full gear.

First there are the weddings.  In two weeks the two beautiful ladies on the left will be getting married and I will be there for the whole thing!  And in March I will also be able to stand next to a friend and watch her commit her life to one of the best men I have ever met!





Then come the babies!  In February both of these lovely bumbs will be bringing new babies into the world!



And this weekend I got to hold a baby who just came into this world and into my amazing group of girlfriends last week!

Mind you this is all on top of the weddings and babies who have already occurred!  I am so happy for each of my friends and love being able to be a part of and watch every piece of their life as it changes and grows, but it does make me think about where I am in mine.

To be honest every once and a while I begin to think that I am falling behind.  If you would have asked me 5 years ago where I would be now I would have told you I would be in the wife/mommy club too but sometimes things don't work out the way you pictured..... and I've realized that for me it’s for the better!

Do I hope to get engaged... YES!  The BF has made my life amazing and I hope that we will be able to be us forever, however right now I don't need it.  Right now I still love growing with him, and in another year or so we will know where and what we are meant to be.  Do I want to get married.... YES!  But I also want a $3000 dress and the Louboutin's to match so for now I will spend my time saving and dreaming, and waiting for the moment when it will be perfect.  Do I want kids.... YES!  I actually want 4, but this weekend made me realize that I am just not ready.  For now I am selfish, I love my happy hours, late nights (not full of diaper changes), vacations, bi-weekly manicures, and tight tummy a little too much to give it all up just yet. 

As we all grow up we take different paths, as long as my friends are happy then they are on the right path, and since I am happy, I know that I am too!
